Wow... Yea this doesn't get updated as much as I first envisaged.
Whats happened since? I've moved on from Hutt, had a very very brief sojourn in Palmerston north loco depot, before moving back home to Napier to start a new career path as a Rail operator. Since then I've progressed to mainline RCO and have now started training as a locomotive engineer. Six job titles in eight years with KiwiRail. Maybe I've earned the title railwayman by now?
Anyway, The DSLR doesn't come out as much these days. However the fast growing capabilities of the camera that fits in your pocket (and I think you can make phone calls with it?) have seen a few pics snapped off over the last couple of years, so i thought I would share some on here of roles past before I progress on.

When it gets particularly busy the ol' C gets a kick in the guts and the afternoon as required plus team leader will get out there while the main shunt is in Hastings. Its always a novelty going out in the DSC however these locomotives are really past their prime - when they are required to cover the DSG it can be a very long shift. The railways have got their monies worth and then some...
Whilst I am no longer an RCO by job title i'll be maintaining my ticket, and filling in on the shunt when the yard gets short. I really enjoy that aspect of Napier - as quite a small team many of us are multi-skilled, and can cover multiple positions when required. On writing this I have been R/O all week - back to the roots!
