Yes, Aphex Twin is playing in my head after typing that. So going through my recent Cantab trip with Jebby, it seems I had a thing for framing everything through window/door frames. Not really complaining though. Dem toasters tho.
Seems I'm in a little-bits-that-go-far mood when it comes to 3DS, thanks to the great route building that a one AC is doing in TRS. Tonight's project: Yard Track. In all of its sleeper rotting goodness. Obviously it could be improved - watch this space. Must make a Wynn-Williams point lever soon...
And to cap this post off, some of Andrews fine route building. Note to self - Never plan subjects that will take more than one post to complete. NEVER. All it does is makes you lazy and prevents you from doing other posts until its complete. There goes 4 months i guess. So on that note here are a few of the pics I had set aside for "The Year That Was: Part Deux". After posting all of these pictures I feel i should mention that I do actually work, and not just foam all day. Well I guess I will leave it there - expect more smaller posts soon, as now I don't have this bastard hanging over me thanks to nagging friends and flatmates. Hope you enjoyed this small look into my year at Hutt, as I certainly enjoyed taking them.
Today marks a year since starting my career in rail - For most people that means sick leave entitlements... yea it means that for me too. But it was an interesting year none the less so I thought I should cap it up with a few pictures. Yes, just a few. I started off my time in group 10 - Locomotive bogies. After the first few months in the welding bay I finished up my time there overhauling DX bogies, repetitive work but with a good bunch of guys. More recently I have been in group 14 - Out of course overhaul. Engine changes, turbos, bogie work, generator changes, blowers, fuel tanks, you name it - we do it. Really varied work with a good amount of problem solving puts it right up my alley! - Scrapping came with a vengeance this year; a sad end to an interesting era in Wellington rail. (Note to self: take more photos) Other things disappeared from the rail scene also - must win lotto and buy a boat... Then there are the ones in hibernation - for now. One for my favorite projects in my time in group 14. mmmm mitsi. Alas - I've reached the picture limit. Someone remind me to do a part II tomorrow.
Aaand a few from work over the last few weeks -
I have been taking plenty of photos at work and much progress has been made on the layout but that would mean i have to get my camera out of the car - yea naa aye. So instead, have this. A few years back I was fortunate enough to go on a road trip with some now good friends of mine around the lower south island. One of the main reasons for the trip was to spend some time around the once again dormant Kingston Flyer, in its short 2 year reprieve. Needless to say none of us regret it. So here you go, a motley collection of photos i found all over my PC, as well as downloaded off facebook because I can't find the originals. Great. And weebly really doesn't show portrait photos off too well if you ask me. Too lazy to write a blurb for this post. Have some captions.
